Canopy.of.Tents is a large scale kinetic artwork installed as part of the Crown Street Stables Art Activation project. Presented as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2019 at the Flemington Crown Street Stables this project brought together contemporary public art with a series of creative children’s workshops. Accessible to the whole community, this temporary outdoor installation acted as a colourful beacon into the Stables. Transforming an underutilised corner of the outdoor grounds, this kaleidoscopic canopy was designed to encourage passers-by to take a closer look.

Canopy.of.Tents, Crown Street Stables, Victoria, 2019.

The Crown Street Art Activation Project combined a large scale temporary installations with a series of free creative workshops for children. Presented as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2019, the multi-purpose community facility was infused with prismatic colour and offer the broader community with the opportunity to be fully immersed in contemporary public art. With a vital focus on reducing waste, materials used in both installations and workshops were almost entirely reused or recycled and aim to bring the attention to the throwaway culture of our time whilst suggesting creative solutions to rethinking waste.
